Dublin city head injury: A man in his 20s is in critical condition after sustaining a head injury around the time he was ejected from a central Dublin venue at the weekend. He was found on Hawkins Street and transferred to Beaumont Hospital for specialist care.

Fatal assault in Mulhuddart: A man in his 40s has died following an assault at Parslickstown Drive, Dublin 15, around 3:55am on Friday. Gardaí have opened a fatal investigation; the coroner has been notified and a postmortem is pending.

West Cork pub death: Gardaí will send the results of a “complex” postmortem to the DPP after a 27-year-old Romanian man became unresponsive while being restrained in Allen’s Bar, Riverstick, on Saturday night. He had recently moved to the area from Limerick.

Dún Laoghaire shooting: A man in his 40s was shot dead around 8:30am on Sunday at Patrician Park, Kill Avenue. The scene is preserved for forensic examination; a postmortem will follow.

Portlaoise killing: A woman in her 50s was found dead following an assault at a residence on Church Street, Portlaoise, around 12:30pm Sunday. A man in his 70s known to her has been arrested and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

Skerries 100 fatality: A competitor in his 50s died after a single-vehicle crash at Duke’s Bend during the Skerries 100 motorcycle road race on Sunday. Organisers expressed condolences.

Weekend road deaths: Three people died in separate crashes in Donegal, Cork and Kildare — a car driver in his 20s in a two-car collision near Ballymagan, Donegal; a motorcyclist in his 30s in a crash with a jeep near Ballyhea, Cork; and a second motorcyclist in Kildare.

Scrambler fears: The mother of 14-year-old Jayden Deans, who has autism and dyspraxia and was seriously injured after being struck by a scrambler bike near the Five Lamps on June 20, says residents in Dublin’s north inner city are living in fear of such vehicles.

Domestic violence order: A woman who says she woke in “a pool of blood” after being attacked by her former partner has secured a protection order at Dublin District Family Court. She alleges a pattern of severe physical and verbal abuse.

Aughinish Alumina probe: Minister of State Neale Richmond says the Government’s investigation into whether any Aughinish Alumina products are ending up in Russian military equipment is active and not “stalling.” Alumina is not currently sanctioned, but officials say Ireland will act if needed.
